Plan it by the shelter and the trail

Rules of thumb for a first list, not code requirements. Your site plan decides.

Pavilion tables

By the shelter floor

Set 8 ft tables in runs under the roof and count seats from the Seating row on the product page. Leave aisles a wheelchair can use to reach the ADA tables. The 8 ft tables are sold by project quote.

ADA models

20%, at least 2

For federal picnic areas, the ABA outdoor standards call for at least 20 percent of picnic units, and at least two, to have mobility features. A useful benchmark for a city or county park; your architect decides.

Receptacles

1 per 4 tables

Plus one at each restroom, parking lot and trailhead. A rain bonnet lid keeps rain out of the can between pickups.

Benches

1 every 400 to 800 ft

Benches with backrests along walking loops, at trailheads and around playgrounds. In-ground mounting keeps them where they are set.

Pavilions, trailheads and sports complexes

Pavilions and rental shelters

Set 8 ft tables in runs under the roof, with ADA 8 ft tables in the same runs so every group sits together. Portable tables let a crew reset the shelter between rentals. The 8 ft tables ship in a 98 in crate and are sold by project quote, at the prices shown.

Trailheads and neighborhood parks

At a site nobody watches, in-ground models stand on posts set below grade, so they stay where they are set and do not walk off. In-ground is available for the expanded metal 46 in round and square tables and the expanded metal 6 ft bench with backrest; your crew or contractor sets the posts. The perforated and ADA models are portable.

See the in-ground models

Shade

Under a pavilion roof the tables stay out of sun and rain. In the open, metal tops in full sun get hot in summer, so set open-air tables where trees or a shade structure cover them in the afternoon.

Sports complexes and event venues

Portable 6 ft tables by the concession stand and spectator areas, a receptacle at every gate and walkway, and benches with backrests where families wait. A festival lawn or a ranch pavilion uses the same 8 ft table runs as the pavilion example order on this page.

Buying for a city, county or district

Purchase orders, tax exempt and W-9

Purchase orders and tax-exempt orders go through a project quote. Send the list and the ship-to address; a person replies within one business day, and your written quote follows once freight and availability are confirmed. A W-9 is sent on request.

Budgets and written quotes

Every price on this page is live and the quantity prices are published, so a parks department or a venue owner can budget from the example orders below. Request a project quote once the purchase is approved; your written quote states how long its prices hold.

Delivery to a park

How it arrives

Crated, by freight truck, from Texas. Parks, trailheads and other municipal sites are limited-access deliveries: choose "Freight + limited access (liftgate included)" at checkout, $100 over the base freight. The driver lowers each crate to the ground at the truck; your parks crew moves it from there.

Orders of $10,000 or more

Ship free to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas after quantity prices, liftgate or limited-access delivery included; other states pay freight, priced to the delivery ZIP. Online checkout takes orders up to 700 lb, three 6 ft expanded metal tables at most; larger lists go through a project quote at the same prices.

Freight table and delivery guide

Tables and benches arrive crated and bolt together on site; we do not install. Every table, bench and receptacle carries the 10-Year Limited Warranty. Returns within 30 days; a change-of-mind return carries a 15% restocking fee and the buyer pays the return freight.

Accessible seating

How many

For city and county parks, the ABA outdoor standards for federal picnic areas are a useful benchmark: where a picnic area has more than two picnic units, at least 20 percent of the picnic units, and at least two, provide mobility features (ABA F245.2.2). Inside a picnic unit with mobility features that has more than one table, at least two of the tables meet section 1011, which calls for 36 in of clear ground space on all usable sides, measured from the back edge of the benches. Your architect or the authority having jurisdiction decides which standard applies and how many.

Which tables

The ADA 8 ft table has a 96 in top over 72 in bench seats, leaving a wheelchair position at each end. The ADA 46 in round and square tables leave one seat off. Whether a site works also depends on the installation: a firm, level surface, an accessible route to the open side and clear floor space at the table.

Questions buyers ask

What goes in a 20-table park pavilion?
The 20-table example order on this page has sixteen 8 ft tables and four ADA 8 ft tables in runs under the roof, six 55 gallon receptacles with rain bonnet lids and six backless benches along the edge, priced with the current quantity prices. Add it to the cart and change quantities to fit your shelter.
Portable or in-ground for an unattended park?
In-ground tables and benches stand on posts set below grade and stay where they are set, which suits trailheads and neighborhood parks. Portable models suit a staffed pavilion where tables get rearranged. In-ground is available for the expanded metal 46 in round and square tables and the expanded metal 6 ft bench with backrest; every other table and bench, the perforated ones included, is portable only.
How many ADA picnic tables does a park need?
For federal picnic areas, the ABA outdoor standards (F245.2) call for mobility features at each picnic unit where an area has two or fewer, and at least 20 percent of the picnic units, and at least two, where it has more. That is a useful benchmark for a city or county park. Your architect or the authority having jurisdiction decides.
Can a parks department pay by purchase order or tax exempt?
Purchase orders and tax-exempt orders go through a project quote. Send the list and the ship-to address; a person replies within one business day, and your written quote follows once freight and availability are confirmed. A W-9 is sent on request.
How is freight priced for a park?
A park is a limited-access delivery: $100 over the base freight, liftgate included. Freight is priced to the delivery ZIP. Orders of $10,000 or more after quantity prices ship free to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas; other states pay freight. Online checkout takes orders up to 700 lb; larger lists go through a project quote at the same prices.
Why are the 8 ft tables sold by project quote?
The 8 ft expanded and perforated metal tables and the ADA 8 ft table ship in a 98 in crate that needs an extreme-length freight quote, so they are ordered through a project quote at the prices shown. Add them to the cart with the rest of the list and send it as one quote.
Do you install the tables?
No. Tables and benches arrive crated and bolt together on site. In-ground models stand on posts set below grade by your own crew or contractor.
What warranty and returns apply?
Every table, bench and receptacle carries the 10-Year Limited Warranty, and a missing or defective part ships free. Returns are accepted within 30 days; a change-of-mind return carries a 15% restocking fee and the buyer pays the return freight.
