Plan it by the lunch period

Rules of thumb for a first list, not code requirements.

Lunch tables

By the largest lunch period

Size the area for the largest lunch period eating outdoors, and check the Seating row on each product page for the count per table.

ADA models

In each seating area

Plan ADA models into each seating area, where the accessible route from the building arrives, not at the far edge. Your architect confirms the count.

Outdoor classroom

Rows or rounds

Rectangular 6 ft tables suit rows; round 46 in tables suit group work. Add an ADA model either way.

Receptacles

1 per 4 tables

Plus a recycling lid beside each lunch area. A 32 or 36 gallon can is easier for custodial staff to empty.

Private schools and public districts

Private and parochial schools

Order at checkout with a card for orders up to 700 lb, or send the list as a project quote. If the tables go in over the summer, ordering in spring leaves time for delivery and assembly before classes start.

Public schools and districts

Purchase orders and tax-exempt orders go through a project quote. Send the list and the ship-to address; a person replies within one business day, and your written quote follows once freight and availability are confirmed and states how long its prices hold.

Delivery to a school

How it arrives

Crated, by freight truck, from Texas. A school is a limited-access delivery: choose "Freight + limited access (liftgate included)" at checkout, $100 over the base freight. The driver lowers each crate to the ground at the truck; your facilities crew moves it from there.

Orders of $10,000 or more

Ship free to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas after quantity prices, liftgate or limited-access delivery included; other states pay freight. Online checkout takes orders up to 700 lb, three 6 ft expanded metal tables at most; larger lists go through a project quote at the same prices.

Freight table and delivery guide

Tables and benches arrive crated and bolt together on site; we do not install. Every table, bench and receptacle carries the 10-Year Limited Warranty. Returns within 30 days; a change-of-mind return carries a 15% restocking fee and the buyer pays the return freight.

Accessible seating

How many

For outdoor lunch areas and courtyards, the 2010 ADA Standards (226.1) call for at least 5% of the seating spaces at dining surfaces to be accessible, and the architect or local code official sets the number for the site. Plan ADA models into each seating area.

Which tables

The ADA 8 ft table has a 96 in top over 72 in bench seats, leaving a wheelchair position at each end. The ADA 46 in round and square tables leave one seat off. Whether a site works also depends on the installation: a firm, level surface, an accessible route to the open side and clear floor space at the table.

Questions buyers ask

How many picnic tables does a school lunch area need?
Count the students eating outdoors in the largest lunch period, then check the Seating row on the product page of the table you choose. Plan ADA models into each seating area; your architect confirms the count.
Which tables work for an outdoor classroom?
Round 46 in tables put four attached seats around one top, so students face each other for group work. Rectangular 6 ft tables suit rows. Add an ADA model either way.
Can a public school order by purchase order?
Purchase orders and tax-exempt orders go through a project quote. Send the list and the ship-to address; a person replies within one business day, and your written quote follows once freight and availability are confirmed.
Do you deliver to schools?
Yes. A school is a limited-access delivery: choose the limited-access rate at checkout, $100 over the base freight, liftgate included. Orders of $10,000 or more after quantity prices ship free to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas; other states pay freight.
Do you install the tables?
No. Tables and benches arrive crated and bolt together on site. In-ground models stand on posts set below grade by your own crew or contractor.
What warranty comes with school tables?
Every table, bench and receptacle carries the 10-Year Limited Warranty, and a missing or defective part ships free. Returns are accepted within 30 days; a change-of-mind return carries a 15% restocking fee and the buyer pays the return freight.
